Created 21st August 1937 by Capitan Chrissement, the founder of the Marne combatant veterans association for award to the veterans of the two tumultuous Marne struggles of September 1914 and July to August 1918. Like the many other French WW1 battle/campaign commemoratives, the medal is unofficial but widely collected.
 The medal; circular, bronze, 32 mm diameter. Obverse depicts the head and shoulders of Jeanne- d'Arc holding a sword with the inscription LA MARNE, with the flags of the allied countries in the background. Reverse; a wreath containing the inscription "1914 SOLDAT DE LA  MARNE 1918.  The uniface integral suspension depicts a horizontal Lictor's bundle with oak leaves under.
 Ribbon; green, with three white bordered red stripes positioned at the centre and the edges.
