Morocco's Commemorative Medal rewarded soldiers, sailors, natives, the Navy personnel, civil servants and personal relief societies for wounded soldiers who took part in the military operations of pacification, or contributed to the defense of properties while Morocco.

History and award procedures

Morocco's Commemorative Medal was established by the Act of 22 July 1909, to reward the troops under the command of future Marshal Lyautey Louis, were engaged in peacekeeping operations between 1907 to 30 March 1912, the enactment of the Treaty of Fez.

It was given to 63,200 holders.

Note: the operations performed in 1915 and 1925 to 1926 in the massive crush the revolt of the Rif tribes led by the nationalist leader Abdelkrim El Khattabi, were rewarded with the award of the Colonial Medal with staples "Morocco 1915" and "Morocco 1925-1926".

Features

Width of 36 mm.
Ribbon: green with three white vertical stripes, 7 mm for the central and 2 mm for the side.
Staples: Staples four silver oriental style Casablanca awarded to sailors and soldiers on board to this city of 5 August 1907 to 15 June 1909
Oudjda awarded for transactions between March 29, 1907 and January 1, 1909;
High Guir awarded for operations between March 6 and June 10, 1908 and those conducted from August 15 to October 7, 1908;
Morocco awarded for operations after 1912.


Medal: The obverse is analogous to the Syria-Cilicia commemorative medal, the work of writer Georges Lemaire. On the reverse of the flag, are recalled the names of Casablanca, High Guir, Oudjda.
