Officer
The Order of the Black Star was founded on 1 December in 1889 by King Toffa of Porto Novo as civil and military merit and recorded by decrees of 10 and 23 May 1896 the French President Félix Faure in the series of the French Order. On September 1, 1950, the name was changed to the Ordre de la France d'Outre-mer was carried out.

Following the acquisition in the French Order of a system awards could be made with the award, if at least three years of service in the French colonies in West Africa has been demonstrated. Medal decoration
The medal is silver plated with gold characters white enameled Maltese Cross (Knight without gilding) with a blue enameled border. carrying method
The Grand Cross is worn on the right shoulder to the left hip and with an eight-pointed star chest on which rests the religious character.
