Grand Cross
The Order of Merit for Distinguished Services, is a distinction granted by the Peruvian State to Peruvian citizens and foreigners for services to Peru. Second in importance after the Orden del Sol.
It was created on July 18, 1950 by the military junta headed by General Noriega Zeno Agüero by Decree Law No. 11474. His delivery was made official from the government of General Manuel A. Odria, after its rules were approved by Decree Nº552 on 6 December 1951. Since then it has been modified over the years.
The Order was created in order to give recognition to those who have contributed their action and work to enhance the prestige of the country, honoring those who have distinguished themselves in the areas of arts, science, industry and trade .

Grand Cross with Bright
Gran Cruz.
Grand Officer.
Comendador.
Official.
