Medal donated in 1929 by Reich Administrator Miklos Horthy for participants in the First World War. Also called Pro Deo et Patria (For God and Fatherland) because of the inscription on the back. Version with swords, for frontline fighters. Awarded to soldiers of the Austro-Hungarian Army and other armies of the Central Powers who served in Hungarian units or on Hungarian territory during the war. The medal is often seen in the German and Austrian medal buckles.
